wife, Patty, with whom I have
3 children and 7 grandchildren.

  • Recognized by the Pennsylvania State Senate and House of Representatives for promoting Pennsylvania history and restoration efforts

  • Appointed to the Gettysburg, PA Monuments Project Committee by State Rep. Harry Readshaw, 36th Legislative Dist., Alleghany Co. 

  • Honored with the Historian of the Year for the Cumberland County Historical Society

  • Recognized by the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association (founded by President Eisenhower), for his preservation efforts

  • Led the effort for the restoration of the Governor Curtin Monument and Park, Harrisburg

  • Recognized by The Civil War & Emancipation Studies Forum, Temple University, and The General Meade Society, Philadelphia, with Certificates of Achievement for promotion of our Nation’s History

  • Served on the Citizen's Advisory Committee for the restoration of the Civil War Monument in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Linglestown, Pennsylvania

  • East Pennsboro Historical Society founding board member

  • East Pennsboro Educational Foundation founding board member

  • Assisted East Pennsboro School District’s History Department, with Helen Belsak, with lesson plans for area history on Pride of the Susquehanna River Boat

  • Appointed by the East Pennsboro Township Commissioners for the merger of West Fairview and East Pennsboro Township

  • Helped design brochure for The 150th Anniversary of the Confederate Invasion of Cumberland County for the Cumberland County Visitors Bureau

  • Has done numerous radio and television shows on local history

  • Inducted into the East Pennsboro Alumni Association's Wall of Honor for his contributions made through Civil War education and historic preservation

  • Recognized by the United States Postal Service with numerous awards – two of which I'm most proud of:

    • The Life Saving Award for saving the life of a stranger​

    • Volunteer of the Year United States Postal Service 1991

  • Was featured in a United States Postal Service ad in TIME Magazine

  • Retired from the United States Postal Service after 39 years​

  • Usher at church for 48 years
