Days of
Darkness:
The Gettysburg Civilians by William G. Williams "Long after the soldiers of Robert E. Lee and George Gordon Meade left Gettysburg, the townsfolk continued to nurse and feed and bury the tattered remnants of those great armies. For every man, woman and child living in Gettysburg there were almost ten wounded men. Days of Darkness: The Gettysburg Civilians is the story of how those civilians coped with the most important battle of the American Civil War. They were forced to hide in the darkness of their cellars from the fight yet later deal with its consequences." Reissued with a new introduction by the author. Hardback, $24.95
